Madhya Pradesh: Male Cheetah Oban Suddenly Leaves Sheopur's Kuno National Park, Panic Among Villagers; Forest Teams Trying To Bring Him Back

SHEOPUR: A male cheetah 'Oban' suddenly went missing from Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. Four teams of Forest Department are engaged in searching him.


PK Verma, DFO, Kuno National Park told that according to the location trace, the cheetah is sitting in the fields around the village. 


As soon as the news spread, the villagers were surprised and started searching for the wild animal. At the same time, the team monitoring the cheetah and the forest staff are also busy in bringing the cheetah back safely to the forest of Kuno. The special thing is that for the first time a cheetah roaming in the open was captured in a video camera.


On March 11, the male cheetah Oban, who was taken out of the large enclosure of Kuno Park and released in the open forest, covered large distance today leaving behind the forests of the park and reached Jhar Baroda and Iklaud villages of Vijaypur area. 

VILLAGERS STARTED SEARCHING FOR BIG CAT

This animal entered the wheat fields while passing through the village. Seeing this, the villagers were in a panic and started searching for the wild animal with sticks and sticks. At the same time, Kuno's monitoring team and officers also reached Jhar Baroda and are trying to bring the cheetah Oban.


A team is engaged to send it back to Kuno National Park. While the sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Agra told that the cheetah entered the village Sunday night, due to which the villagers are in panic.

CHEETAH WAS MOVING TOWARDS VILLAGE FROM SATURDAY NIGHT

Sheopur divisional forest officer (DFO) P K Verma said that as per the signals from its collar device, the cheetah was moving towards the village from Saturday night. He said he is sitting at the spot and a police team is monitoring the situation and keeping villagers away. Forest department staff are trying to send it back into the park area, he said.
 

Forest department officials also shared a video in which staffers can be seen trying to coax Oban to get back into the forest.

LAST LOCATION OF CHEETAH WAS NEAR A VILLAGE 8-10 KM FROM KUNO

It has been told that the last location of the said cheetah has been seen near village Jhar Baroda. Jhar Baroda village is said to be about 8 to 10 kilometers away from Kuno National Park. 


Verma told that since last night four teams of Forest Department are engaged in search of 'Oban' and he is still in the forest adjacent to the park.


This is one of the eight cheetahs brought from Namibia, which was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kuno National Park on 17 September on the occasion of his birthday. 

CHEETAH'S LOCATION BEING TRACKED WITH HELP OF COLLARED ID

The location of the male cheetah is being tracked with the help of collared ID on his neck. Due to this the Forest Department team is getting its location. Earlier, the female cheetah 'Sasha' had died. 


A day after the funeral of the female cheetah 'Sasha', another female cheetah 'Siyaya' gave birth to four cubs. These are the first four cheetah cubs born on Indian soil since 1947.
