Atiq Ahmed's Son Asad Among Two Gunned Down In Encounter In Jhansi

Jhansi: Two accused in the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj were gunned down by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police in an armed encounter. One of them is Asad, the son of Mafia Atiq Ahmed and the other is said to be his accomplice Ghulam.

Police sources said that the STF has killed Asad and Ghulam, the shooters of the Umesh Pal murder case, in an encounter in the area bordering Madhya Pradesh. There was a reward of five lakh rupees on both.

The STF team was headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Navendu and STF DSP Vimal. Ultramodern weapons have been recovered from the deceased miscreants. Asad is the son of mafia don Atiq Ahmed who was involved in the Umesh Pal murder case.

Asad and Ghulam in Delhi were planning to flee via MP

Sources said that the police had received information about the presence of Asad and Ghulam in Delhi from where they were planning to flee via Madhya Pradesh. On being chased by the STF, they started firing on the security forces. Both were killed in retaliatory action.

Significantly, on February 24, Umesh Pal, the main witness of the Rajupal murder case, and his two government security personnel were murdered in broad daylight outside their residence in Dhrumanganj. In this case, on the complaint of Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal, the police had registered a case against Atiq, his brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen, two sons and nine other accused.

Of these, Arbaaz, the car driver involved in the murder, was gunned down by the police in Prayagraj, while later another shooter Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman was also killed by the STF.

Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ali have been produced in a special court in Prayagraj today by the police to take them on remand in connection with the murder conspiracy.
