Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh Arrested In Moga

Moga:  Radical preacher Amritpal Singh was arrested from Punjab's Moga district after his surrender on Sunday, police said.

Before his surrender, Amritpal gave discourses in the Gurdwara. He will be taken to Dibrugarh jail in Assam by flight from Bathinda airport. A case has also been registered against Amritpal under NSA.

Amritpal was absconding for the last 36 days. He attacked the Ajnala police station in Punjab on February 23 for the release of one of his supporters. On March 18, the police laid siege to arrest him, but he escaped.

Police has tweeted and appealed to the people to maintain peace. Along with this, it has also been said that do not share any kind of fake news.

Amritpal's close aides were arrested earlier

Two close aides of the fugitive radical preacher and Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh were arrested at Mohali in Punjab, in a joint operation by Punjab and Delhi Police on April 18.

On April 15, Punjab Police arrested his close aide Joga Singh from Sirhind in the Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Another close aide Papalpreet Singh was arrested on April 10, in an operation conducted by the Punjab Police and its counter-intelligence unit.

Amritpal had been declared a "fugitive" while he was on the run earlier in March.

Almost a month ago, the Punjab police issued a lookout circular (LOC) and non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.

Before the arrest, Amritpal said, "This is the birth place of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. At that place we are expanding our work and stand at a turning point. Everyone has seen what is happening since a month. If If it was just a matter of arrest, there were many methods of arrest, we would have cooperated."

He said further that we may be found guilty in the court of the world. Not in the court of the true Guru. Have fought and will fight on this land. Those who have filed false cases, we will face them. The arrest is not the end but the beginning.
