Bhopal: Ramesh Sharma, senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former MLA passed away. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and senior BJP leaders visited his residence today and paid their last respects.
After reaching his residence, Shri Chouhan said that Shri Sharma's funeral will be held with state honours. He recalled the contribution of Sharma in the social and political field.
Sharma, fondly known as Guttu Bhaiya among his admirers and politicians, attended a wedding ceremony here last night. Thereafter, in the middle of the night, he complained of uneasiness at the residence. The relatives took him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. He was about 70 years old.
Sharma, who has been active in the station area of the city, had been an MLA from North Assembly seat of Bhopal, which is considered to be Muslim dominated.
Apart from this, he also handled the responsibility of BJP Bhopal (City) District President. He also held the post of Chairman of Food and Civil Supplies Corporation. He also served as the chairman of the Vishram Ghat Trust here.
After the news of Sharma's demise, many senior BJP leaders reached his residence at Bajaria here and met the bereaved family members. Paying tributes on behalf of the state government and the people of the state, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that easy-going, simple, unassuming and everyone’s beloved "Guttu Bhaiya" was an ever-active social worker. He used to participate fully in everyone's joy and sorrow. He was like an elder brother to me.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has prayed to the Almighty to give place to the departed soul at his lotus feet and to give his family members, friends and followers the strength to bear this sorrow. CM Chouhan said that the last rites of former MLA Ramesh Sharma "Guttu Bhaiya" will be performed with state honours.
State BJP President Vishnudutt Sharma in his condolence message said that the news of the demise of Sharma is extremely sad and it is an irreparable loss to the BJP family. He has prayed to God to give place to the departed soul at his feet and provide strength to the bereaved family members.
Other state BJP leaders and office bearers have also expressed shock over the demise of Sharma.
