Delhi Wakes Up To A Rainy Morning, Flights Diverted To Jaipur



New Delhi: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR with gusty wind and thunderstorms on Saturday morning, bringing the minimum temperature to 19.3 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal.


The Delhi airport stated that flight operations were affected due to the bad weather.


The authority has also released a circular informing all flyers to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information as bad weather has disrupted the operations.


According to Delhi airport sources, four flights headed for Delhi have been diverted to Jaipur due to weather conditions in the national capital.


Minimum temperature of Delhi dips 7 degrees below normal


According to Skymet Weather, on May 27, widespread rain and thundershower activities have occurred over Delhi and NCR. The base observatory of Delhi that is Safdarjung has recorded 16 mm of rain, while Palam recorded 19 mm. The minimum temperature of Delhi dropped to 19.3 degrees which is below normal by 7 degrees.


Skymet said a cyclonic circulation is over Punjab and Haryana and the trough is extending up to sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Humid winds from the Arabian Sea are feeding moisture to Northwest India and an active Western disturbance is moving across Western Himalayas. these weather parameters are responsible for rain activities.


Skymet said they expect rain and thundershower associated with continuing until the end of the month keeping the temperature below normal. Weatherman said we do not expect heat wave to make a comeback until the first week of June.
