Karnataka Elections-2023 Results: Congress Ahead In Early Trends



Bengaluru: In the early trends, Congress has established a lead. So far the party is ahead on 118 seats, while the BJP  is ahead on 82 and JDS on 22 seats. 


Counting of votes is underway for 224 seats for the Karnataka Assembly elections. Voting was held here on 10 May. In the elections, a close fight can be seen between the ruling BJP and the Congress in the state. While other regional parties including Janata Dal S are waiting with bated breath to know the results. The counting of votes has started from 8 o'clock. First postal ballots were counted. The initial trends are showing that the Congress is ahead.


The Congress party which is leading in the Karnataka polls posted a video of Rahul Gandhi walking with the message:

"I'm invincible 

"I'm so confident 

"Yeah, I'm unstoppable today."


Top state leaders--Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Congress' Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar and Janata Dal-Secular leader HD Kumaraswamy are contesting from different seats.


The State registered a record turnout of 73.19 per cent in the voting on May 10 for the 224 member assembly.


A victory today could mark a revival of its political fortunes, bolstering its position and strengthening its credentials as the main opposition party against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
