Rajasthan: Power Tussle Between Pilot, Gehlot Worsens; Hoardings Appear A Day After Scuffle Between Their Supporters

Jaipur: Amid a power tussle between Rajasthan's former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, hoardings slamming Pilot have come up at parts of Jodhpur, asking him why he was 'silent' on the alleged Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam in the state.  A day earlier on Thursday, supporters of Pilot and Gehlot had clashed in Ajmer.

The hoardings have photos of Pilot and Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Jodhpur and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

The hoardings also had the photos of District Congress Committee-North organizing secretary Kush Gehlot, district spokesperson Bhakar Ram Bishnoi and District Congress Committee-South secretary Lalit Kumar Gehlot.

CM Gehlot has been repeatedly accusing Union Minister Shekhawat of being involved in the scam. However, Shekhawat has denied the charge. He has also filed a complaint before a Delhi court accusing Ashok Gehlot of defaming him with remarks on the scam.

When asked about the hoardings, Bhakar Ram Bishnoi Bishnoi said Pilot has been raising issues of the previous government and has even held a march but he is silent on the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam issue.

Supporters of Gehlot and Pilot had got into a scuffle

A day earlier, supporters of Gehlot and Pilot on Thursday got into a scuffle with each other ahead of a feedback meeting with the party workers in Ajmer, the police said.

During the visit of All India Congress Committee secretary and co-incharge of Rajasthan Amrita Dhawan to Ajmer, Congress workers created ruckus.

Amrita Dhawan, who reached outside the venue of the Govindam ceremony in Vaishali Nagar, returned to the circuit house without talking to the workers. She reached Ajmer from Jaipur. At the venue where she had to hold talks with the workers, there was a lot of ruckus between Gehlot-Pilot supporters and there was a scuffle.

In this feedback program organized by Ajmer City Congress, Vijay Jain, the outgoing President of City Congress, lodged a strong objection and also switched off the mike system, alleging that the people of Dehat Congress had already reached and occupied the hall. Hurt by the displeasure of Vijay Jain, who belongs to the Pilot group, some workers raised objections and gradually the matter escalated from squabbling to scuffle.

The activists also raised slogans of Murdabad against Dharmendra Rathore, the chairman of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. During this, many leaders including MLA Rakesh Pareek, former MLA Dr. Shrigopal Baheti, Ajmer Dairy Sadar Ramchandra Chowdhary, Leader of Opposition in Municipal Corporation Draupadi Koli were present. All these are considered to be from the Gehlot faction. After raising slogans of Murdabad against Dharmendra Rathore, the police escorted them out of the venue safely.

City president Vijay Jain alleged that the work of spoiling the decorum of the Congress has been done here.
