Weather: Indo Gangetic Plains Likely To Experience Rains And Thunderstorms



New Delhi: The Indo Gangetic Plains will be witnessing dry weather conditions and temperatures may rise particularly until May 21. However, dry days will take a break after that and rainy days will make an appearance.


According to Skymet  Weather, a trough will be extending from Punjab up to West Uttar Pradesh, leading to isolated rains and thunderstorm as well as dust storm activities over Punjab, Haryana, Northwest Rajasthan, Delhi, western parts of Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh.


Widespread rain and thundershowers will be seen from May 24


Weather activities will intensify on May 23 and widespread rain and thundershowers will be seen from May 24, covering parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha, continuing until the end of May. Isolated hailstorms cannot be ruled out and there may be isolated heavy spells of rain as well.


Rain and  scattered snowfall over Western Himalayas from May 23


A fresh Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas from May 23. This Western Disturbance will be active and may give widespread rain and thundershowers over Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir as well as Uttarakhand. Upper reaches of these areas may receive scattered snowfall and isolated moderate to heavy snow cannot be ruled out.
