Asia Cup Dates Announced, Pakistan And Sri Lanka Will Jointly Host; These Matches Will Be Played In Pakistan And These In Sri Lanka

The Asia Cup tournament will be played from 31 August to 17 September. It will be hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The first four matches of the tournament will be played in Pakistan and all the subsequent nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka.

These matches to be played in Pakistan

The matches to be played in Pakistan include: Pakistan Vs Nepal match from one group and Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh, Afghanistan Vs Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka matches from the other group. 

This means India will not have a single match in Pakistan. The final will also be played in Sri Lanka. 

These matches to be played in Sri Lanka

India Vs Pakistan and India Vs Nepal matches in the group stage will be played in Sri Lanka. After this, the top-2 ranked teams from both the groups will reach the Super-4. All the Super-4 matches and the final will also be played in Sri Lanka.

Earlier this tournament was to be played in Pakistan but India was not ready to play in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Control Board (PCB) had also expressed displeasure about this.

Teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal are participating in the tournament.

Top two teams from each group will advance to Super Four stage

There will be two groups of three teams each in the tournament and the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage.

In one group there will be teams from India, Pakistan and Nepal and in the other group there will be teams from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

After that the two winning teams of the Super Four stage will clash in the final.
