Damoh: A girl victim of love jihad in Karnataka's Bengaluru has returned to Madhya Pradesh's Damoh and lodged a complaint. The victim is a resident of Damoh.
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar Singh said that a complaint has been lodged by the victim in the Mahila police station on Thursday. Thhe girl has said her video and photos were made by the accused. Action will be taken soon after registering the case, he said.
A girl from Damoh district had gone to work in a private company in Bengaluru. There she befriended Rajeev, a youth who worked in her own company. Both decided to get married.
Meanwhile, the girl came to know that the real name of the accused is Umar Farooq and he is a resident of Assam. As soon as she came to know about this, the girl started keeping distance from him, but the accused started blackmailing her by threatening to make some of her private photos and videos viral.
Meanwhile, fed up with the physical and mental harassment by the youth, the girl returned to Damoh and lodged a complaint in this matter at Damoh's Mahila police station.
Police will be sent to Karnataka: Home Minister
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra said on Friday that a team of state police is being sent to Karnataka in connection with a girl from Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district who was allegedly a victim of love jihad in Be3ngaluru.
He said that the Freedom of Religion Bill, Atrocity Act and other sections related to conversion have also been imposed on the accused Umar Farooq.
Talking to reporters, Dr. Mishra said that the victim girl lodged a report at the Mahila police station in Damoh yesterday. A team of state police will be sent to Karnataka today itself.
However, on the pretext of this matter, he targeted Congress General Secretary and senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi and said that she talks like 'Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun' (I am a girl, I can fight). In this matter, she is requested to help the state government in getting justice to the victim.
