Mumbaikars May Get Relief From Sultry Weather; Wait For Monsoon May Finally Be Over



Mumbaikars are eagerly waiting for monsoon rains. Although scattered rain has commenced over Mumbai and the suburbs, but the typical monsoon rains are still awaited. Now the wait seems to be over and the monsoon is about to set in Mumbai in the next 48 hours.


According to Skymet, rain activities will continue over Mumbai as well as the coastal districts of Maharashtra until the end of June. There may be a few intense spells of rain which may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas. But weather experts do not expect widespread flooding and very heavy downpours.


Moderate to heavy rain possible over Vidarbha also


Moderate to heavy rain with isolated very heavy spells are possible over Vidarbha as well. Places like Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Bhandara and Gondia may witness intense spells of rain during the week. Parts of Marathwada may also receive good rain. However, rain activities over North Madhya Maharashtra may not be heavy. Districts such as Jalgaon, Nasik, Malegaon, Aurangabad, and Ahmednagar may receive light scattered rain.


The average rainfall for Mumbai in the month of June is 526.3 mm whereas only 17 mm of rain has occurred over Mumbai until June 22nd. Mumbai will not be able to cover the deficit in the next week but there will be relay from ongoing hot and sultry weather conditions.
