ODI World Cup-2023: Will Pakistan Come To India? Pakistani Government Can Take A Big Decision Soon

ODI World Cup-2023 is to be held in India this year. BCCI has also started preparations for this. Stadiums have also been selected for the matches. Now the public is just waiting for the India-Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, whether Pakistan will participate in the World Cup or not, confirmation is yet to come.

There was a long-standing dispute over the hosting of the Asia Cup, due to which a question mark has been raised whether Pakistan will come to India or not. Now news is coming that Pakistani Foreign Ministry has started the process of participation of its team in the World Cup. An official statement was issued by the Government of Pakistan on Thursday, in which it was said that a decision will be taken soon on whether their team will go to India to play the World Cup or not.

There is delay in release of tournament's schedule

Apart from Pakistan, the rest of the teams are ready to come to India. ICC is delaying releasing the schedule of the tournament just because of not getting confirmation from Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and said that they cannot agree on the schedule right now. Because the government of Pakistan will decide whether they will go to India to play or not. The schedule will be confirmed after the approval from the government. The BCCI has already sent the draft schedule of the ODI World Cup to the ICC, but it could not be released due to non-availability of Pakistan's confirmation.

Pakistani govt gave a statement

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has issued a media release and said that the Prime Minister of India has sent an official invitation to our PM for a virtual meeting. This meeting is to be held on July 4 in which political issues are to be discussed. In such a situation, it is believed that around July 4, a decision will be taken on the Pakistan team playing in the World Cup.

PCB demanding change of venue

According to the draft schedule of BCCI, 2 out of 9 matches of Pakistan will be played in Chennai and Bengaluru. PCB has demanded to change the venue of these matches. However, due to lack of specific reasons, the ICC has rejected this wish of PCB.

PCB had created trouble in 2016 as well

The T20 World Cup was held in India in 2016. During this, the Pakistan team came to India for the last time. The Pakistan Cricket Board had got the venues changed in this World Cup as well. The match was to be held in Dharamshala on March 19, but citing security, Pakistan had transferred the venue of the match to Kolkata.
