Rahul Gandhi To Participate In Opposition's Meeting On June 23 In Patna

 


Patna: The Congress party on Sunday confirmed participation of its top leader, Rahul Gandhi in proposed meeting of opposition on June 23 in Patna to forge national-level unity to counter BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
 

President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Akhilesh Singh told media persons here that top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leader K C Venugopal would participate in proposed meeting of opposition parties in Patna on June 23.
 

He dismissed all uncertainties over participation of Gandhi in the meeting, saying such false information was being deliberately spread by some vested interests.


"We noticed some baseless reports appearing in a section of media regarding uncertainties over participation of Gandhi in the meeting," Congress leader said. He said that he thought it fit to clear the doubt over the issue.


Singh further said that at the initiative of Chief Minister Kumar, the meeting of opposition parties has been convened in Patna on June 23.

 

No hiccups in forging national-level unity

 

There are no hiccups in forging national-level unity among opposition parties, he added while responding to queries of media persons in this connection.


The other leaders who would be participating in the meeting besides Congress leaders include West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP president Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin, SP president Akhilesh Yadav, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI General Secretary D Raja and CPI(ML) leader Deepankar Bhattacharya.
