Hockey: Pakistan Gets Green Signal To Travel To India For Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023, Will Lock Horns With Archrivals India On This Date


Chennai: The Pakistan hockey team has got the green signal to travel to India for the forthcoming Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 scheduled to be held in Chennai from August 3


Pakistan Hockey Federation secretary Haider Hussain said the Sports Board has got the NOC from the Ministry of Interior.


He said the team will leave on Tuesday via the Wagah border and travel to Amritsar from where they have been booked on a domestic flight for Chennai.


The Asian Champions Trophy 2023, scheduled to take place from 3rd August to 12th August, will witness top-notch teams battling it out during the event, and India will face off against formidable opponents - Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, and China.


As per the tournament format, all six teams will each play five matches in the round-robin stage before the top four teams move into the semifinals. 


India’s opening match against China


India will play their first match of the tournament against China on 3rd August. Their second match will be against Japan on 4th August. 


After taking a rest day, India will face off against Malaysia on 6th August followed by a clash with Korea on the 7th August. The last match of the group stage will be against Pakistan on 9th August. All India matches will commence at 2030 hrs IST. 


Pakistan are scheduled to play their first match against Malaysia on August 3.

August 3: vs China; August 4: vs Japan; August 6: vs Malaysia; August 7: vs Korea; August 9: vs Pakistan.
