Sehore: Like the year 2018, in 2023 also, the Congress has made up its mind to go all out to acquire power in Madhya Pradesh. For this, the Congress has started efforts on the ground. This time, the Congress has a plan to corner Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his own constituency, Budhni.
However, for this the Congress needs a prominent face. Last time in the 2018 elections, former PCC president Arun Yadav faced CM Shivraj, while this time BJP rebel Deepak Joshi has announced to challenge CM Shivraj. Significantly, the assembly elections are proposed to be held in the last month of the year.
The Congress, which came to power in the year 2018, is cherishing the dream of coming to power once again. In such a situation, the Congress is engaged in formulating a strategy to stop Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his own home district's Budhni assembly. For this, the Congress is looking for such a popular face who can confront CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the elections.
Penetrating CM's bastion not easy
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is MLA from Budhni assembly of home district Sehore. As such, since 2003, the BJP is in possession of the Budhni assembly seat. In the year 2003, Rajendra Singh Rajput was elected MLA. Since then CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been becoming MLA for four consecutive terms. To penetrate this stronghold of BJP, the main opposition party Congress is also trying its best, but it is not easy to succeed.
In the last 2018 assembly elections, the Congress fielded former state Congress president Arun Yadav in front of CM Shivraj here, but he too had to face defeat by a huge margin. Congress has given a chance to local and outside leaders from here, but till now no success has been achieved.
Election results of the year 2018
In the 2018 assembly elections, Arun Yadav was in the fray against Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Shivraj Singh Chouhan got one lakh 23 thousand 492 votes in this election.
While Arun Yadav of Congress got only 64 thousand 493 votes. Two lakh four thousand 950 voters of Budhni assembly had cast their votes in this election. In the year 2018, there was 83 percent polling in Budhni Assembly.
Now Deepak Joshi is challenging Shivraj
Deepak Joshi, the son of former Chief Minister Kailash Joshi, who quit BJP to join Congress, is keen to contest the election against CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Deepak Joshi had told State Congress President Kamal Nath on the very day of joining the Congress that he should be given a ticket from Budhni, he wants to contest the elections in front of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
On the other hand, with the announcement of BJP rebel Deepak Joshi, the tension of local Budhni leaders who are planning to contest elections has increased. However, local Congress leaders Mahendra Singh Chauhan and Mahesh Rajput can challenge the BJP candidate in the upcoming assembly elections.
