Modi Surname Case: Congress Tells Way Forward After Gujarat HC Dismisses Rahul Gandhi's Plea; Party Will Observe Satyagraha On 12 July


After the decision of the High Court, All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the party will challenge the decision of the Gujarat High Court in the Supreme Court.


Cong will observe silent satyagraha on 12th July 


Congress will hold silent satyagraha across the country on 12th July in support of Rahul Gandhi.


Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary and in-charge of the party's communication department, has said, "The single bench decision of the Gujarat High Court on Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as an MP has come to our notice. The arguments of the Hon'ble Judge are being studied, as it should be. The High Court's decision has doubled our resolve to take this case forward."


Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has written in a tweet that 'I remember the statement of Mahatma Gandhi after the Gujarat High Court's decision regarding Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case. Bapu had said that truth does not mean just speaking the truth. Truth means putting everything at stake for the protection of truth and not getting distracted from the truth even after making the biggest sacrifice. Such is the difficult path of truth that Rahul Gandhi is following.'


Rahul would not be able to participate in monsoon session if he doesn't get relief from SC


Had Rahul Gandhi's sentence been stayed, then his Membership of Parliament could have been restored. The monsoon session of Parliament is starting from 20 July. If there is no immediate relief from the Supreme Court, he will not be able to participate in the monsoon session.


If the Supreme Court also rejects Rahul's petition, then he will not be able to contest the elections next year.


The Gujarat High Court said on Friday that there are eight other criminal defamation cases registered against Rahul Gandhi


Whole country is with Rahul: DK Shivakumar


On the decision of the High Court, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that the whole country is with Rahul Gandhi. He said that BJP wants to stop Rahul Gandhi, so many cases have been registered against him. DK Shivkumar said that Rahul Gandhi will emerge more strongly.


The BJP has immediately welcomed the decision of the Gujarat High Court. BJP's national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala tweeted and said- Satyamev Jayate.


In his tweet, Poonawalla has said, "After the Sessions Court, now the High Court has also rejected Rahul's petition. Rahul Gandhi is continuously violating the law. He has not yet apologized to the OBC community.
