Bhopal: Heavy rains are continuing in Madhya Pradesh. On Friday, very heavy rains occurred in some places of Sagar, Chhindwara, Ujjain, Shivpuri, Dewas, Indore, Rajgarh, Sehore, Dewas, Khargone, Raisen districts.
Whereas, Narmadapuram, Indore, Raisen, Pachmarhi, Bhopal, Chhindwara, Guna, Ujjain and Sagar districts received moderate to heavy rains. There was drizzle in the capital Bhopal as well. Due to excessive rains in many districts, a situation of water-logging was created, while the effect of flood was also seen in many districts.
The water level of Narmada reached 125 meters at Rajghat in Barwani on Saturday morning. It is one and a half meters above the danger mark. Water has started coming till the new ghat. There is a danger of flood in the villages situated on the bank. The water level of Narmada is increasing continuously due to the rains in the Cachar region and the release of water from the turbines of the upper dams.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rainy season will continue in the state. Due to the rain, people have got relief from the heat, but the humidity has increased in the districts where the Sun has come out after the rain, .
There is an alert of heavy rain in the next 24 hours in half of Madhya Pradesh. There may be heavy rain with lightning in Betul, Ujjain, Dewas and Chhindwara. Heavy rains are expected in 29 districts of the state including Indore, Jabalpur. Light rain may occur at other places.
There is a forecast of heavy rains in western Madhya Pradesh for the next two days. After this the weather system will shift towards East Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, it will rain heavily there too.
Level of Upper lake and major dams rise in Bhopal
In Bhopal too, the level of the Upper Lake has increased by half a foot. This happened due to good rains in the last 48 hours in the catchment area. More than 4 feet of water came in the Kolans river filling the Upper Lake. The level of Kerwa, Kaliasot and Kolar dams has also increased in the last 5 days.
Narmadapuram received maximum rainfall of 45 mm from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on Friday. 20 mm of rain was recorded in Indore, 14 in Raisen, 10 in Pachmarhi, 8.5 in Bhopal, 8 in Chhindwara, 6 mm in Guna. According to the department, an alert has been issued for rain in most of the districts of the state on Saturday.
Heavy rain expected in these districts
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains may occur in Sehore, Ujjain and Betul districts. The Department has issued an orange alert for these districts. Heavy rain and thundershowers are also expected in Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Rajgarh, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Harda, Khandwa, Shajapur, Mandsaur and Neemuch districts.
Bhopal's youth drowned in Sehore
A Bhopal's youth got swept away in Amargarh waterfall in Sehore district. He had come here with friends for a picnic. The administration team is engaged in the rescue, but due to continuous rains, there are problems in the rescue. The incident took place on Friday afternoon. Akash Jaiswal (28), a resident of Bhopal's Minal Residency, had come here by car along with his friends Ankit Jaiswal, Harsh Rai, Aditya Bhadoria, Seema Suman, Domenik Topo. All of them were taking a bath in the waterfall, when Akash slipped into the deep water. When he was not seen, friends informed the police.
