Haryana Violence: 4 Die, 30 Injured; Mosque Torched In Gurugram, Imam Dies; Curfew In Nuh


Nuh: Four people were killed and at least 30 others, including several policemen, were injured as mobs in Haryana's Nuh district tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, pelting stones and setting cars on fire, police said.


Security around religious places has been strengthened. Both the police and administration are holding meetings with prominent members of the community to ensure peace, police said.


13 companies of paramilitary deployed


Curfew has been imposed in Nuh for two days. To control the situation, 13 companies of paramilitary have been deployed in the entire area. On the other hand, an alert has also been issued in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, adjacent to Nuh. Internet has also been stopped in 4 areas here.


CM Manohar Lal said that the Nuh incident is unfortunate. I appeal to all the people to maintain peace in the state. The guilty will not be spared. Strictest action will be taken.



Sec 144 in 6 dists


Now this violence has spread to Gurugram after Nuh (Mewat). In view of this, apart from these two districts, Section 144 has been implemented in 6 districts including Rewari, Palwal, Faridabad and Sonipat as a precautionary measure. Internet has been suspended in Nuh till 2nd August. All educational institutions and coaching centers will remain closed on Tuesday i.e. August 1 in Nuh, Faridabad, Gurugram and Palwal.


Board's 10th and 12th exams have been canceled in Nuh. These exams were to be held on 1 and 2 August. In view of the violence, CM Manohar Lal Khattar has called a high-level meeting of Home Minister Anil Vij and other senior administrative officials including Chief Secretary, DGP.


Mosque torched, Imam dies


After communal violence in Haryana's Mewat on Monday, a mosque in Sector 57 of Gurugram was set on fire late Monday night.


In this attack, the Imam of the mosque has died and one person is seriously injured.


Aslam Khan, chairman of the mosque's management committee, said: "The imam of the mosque, Mohammad Saad, has died in this attack."


Gurugram's DCP East Nitish Agarwal has confirmed this attack.


He said, “The naib imam of the mosque has died in the attack. An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident and some people have been detained.”


According to the DCP, “When the mosque was attacked, police forces were deployed there for security but the attackers were outnumbered and opened fire suddenly. Police is collecting videos related to the incident and the attackers are being identified. Some of the suspected attackers have also been taken into custody.”


Earlier, there was a clash between two groups during a religious pilgrimage in Mewat area of Nuh district of Haryana on Monday, in which about 20 people were injured and two Home Guard jawans were killed.


Imam Saad's brother Shadab Anwar told his brother was the imam of this mosque for the last seven months and was only 22 years old.


According to the DCP, there is no news of communal violence in entire Gurugram since last night's incident. Internet services have been suspended in Sohna, Pataudi, and Manesar areas.
