Bhopal: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, organised a magnificent celebration of the propitious festival, Onam.
It is a harvest festival and marks the beginning of a new year for Keralites. The college program welcomed authentic traditions of Onam.
To begin with, the students relished upon a grand feast called, Sadhya and consisted of customary dishes like Puli Inji, Payasam etc, served on a Banana plate.
The entire college got the opportunity to peep into the precious and vivid cultures of India.
Furthermore, a few engaging and interactive events enlightened the festival's aura.
Cultural activities were preceded with diya lighting by the Director of NIFT Bhopal, Ashish Agarwal.
Energetic dance performances had set the rhythmic mood of the day while games like tug of war and musical chairs sprinkled a sense of playfulness amongst the students.
The festival is celebrated for 10-long days and marks the appearance of the Vamana Avatar of Lord Vishnu and the return of the Legendary King Mahabali. It is believed that the emperor Mahabali comes from the Patal Lok once a year and visits the homes of all the Malayalis, to meet his people. King Mahabali visited NIFT to give darshan to the participants.
The event ended with a cheerful note and a wave of pride within the participants to be a part of a culturally rich country.
