Lok Sabha elections 2024: BJP Working On 'Mission-80' in UP, Trying To Woo RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary

In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections 2024, political parties have started playing their respective bets. Different strategies are being made at the state level. In UP too, the BJP has started working on the strategy for the Lok Sabha elections. This time it has set a target of winning all the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. For this, the party has decided to increase the scope of the alliance along with wooing its allies. BJP is now trying to woo Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) regarding the BJP alliance.

BJP's attitude towards Jayant Chaudhary remains soft

In fact, BJP leaders are seen attacking Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, but BJP's attitude towards RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary remains soft. BJP wants to strengthen its political position in western Uttar Pradesh by forging an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal in the Lok Sabha elections. Its latest indication has been given by three-time MLA from Muzaffarnagar seat and state government minister Kapil Dev Agarwal. 

Minister Dev now reminded Jayant Chaudhary of good days and at the same time he also said that the decision of alliance with RLD will be taken by the high command. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, there was an alliance between BJP and RLD. Then RLD had won 5 seats. Minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal is seen trying to win over RLD by reminding him of good days on the pretext of 5 seats. He said that if RLD comes together, their position in UP will improve.

RLD SP alliance in assembly elections

In 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, an alliance was forged between the Rashtriya Lok Dal and the Samajwadi Party for the assembly elections. This alliance is still in force. There has been a slight improvement in the position of RLD in the assembly elections. However, its position in the Lok Sabha is bad. 

RLD currently has nine seats in the UP assembly. But RLD got only one seat in the year 2014 as well as year 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to information, BJP has offered three seats of Lok Sabha to RLD in UP. However, Jayant Chaudhary is reportedly asking for four seats. Both the parties are adamant on their stand regarding this. On the other side RLD which is currently in alliance with INDIA has asked for a dozen seats in UP.
