Madhya Pradesh: Kharge Said This On Dalit Youth's Murder In Sagar

Sagar: In Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, murder of a Dalit youth and assault on his mother has led to anger among the locals. Last Thursday, a Dalit youth was beaten to death by some people in Barodia Naunagir village of Khurai Dehat police station area of Sagar due to old enmity.

The mother of the deceased was also seriously injured in the assault. Police have registered a case of murder against 9 people of the village. Now Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party by tweeting in this matter.

'BJP has made MP a laboratory of Dalit atrocities'

Kharge wrote, “A Dalit youth was beaten to death in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The goons did not even spare his mother. The Prime Minister, who pretends to build Sant Ravidas temple in Sagar, does not even speak on Dalit and tribal oppression and injustice happening continuously in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh tries to hide his crime by washing the feet of the underprivileged only in front of the camera. …But the BJP has made Madhya Pradesh a laboratory of Dalit atrocities."

It is alleged that some people of the village were pressuring the family of the deceased to compromise in an old molestation case. Earlier, the sister of the deceased had registered this case. On Thursday night, the victim, 18-year-old Nitin Ahirwar, was beaten to death after he refused to withdraw the sexual harassment case lodged by his sister. The accused had been pressuring the victim's sister to withdraw her complaint.

The accused, Vikram Singh Thakur, first vandalised the victim’s house and then murdered him. When the victim's mother arrived to intervene, they stripped her and assaulted her.

The police have arrested eight accused, including the main suspect. Some of the accused, including the village head's husband, are still at large. The police teams are conducting searches at various locations to apprehend them.

On Saturday, the family members of the deceased had refused to perform the last rites till the house of the accused was demolished.
