Scribes Not Safe In Nitish Kumar's Rule In Bihar, From Journalist Rajdev To Vimal Yadav, Story Is Same


Patna: CM Nitish Kumar, known as Sushasan Babu in Bihar, is dreaming of becoming PM in 2024 with the new alliance India, but there is no good governance in Nitish's rule. Here in Bihar the scribes are not safe. Recently, daily newspaper journalist Vimal Yadav was murdered in broad daylight at Raniganj in Araria, Patna. Criminals were so fearless that they got the door of the house opened and as soon as the journalists Vimal came out, they shot him in the chest.


Not the first murder of a media person in Bihar 


This is not the first murder of a media person in Bihar. Even before this, many media persons have been punished for revealing the truth. Even before this there have been fatal attacks on journalists. Many were put to death. The frequent murders and attacks on journalists have proved that no one can stand before the mafia, police and corrupt politicians. 

 

Many journalists have been killed in Bihar


Araria district of Bihar is often in discussion. This time the case of murder of a journalist has come to the fore from here. On the murder of journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav, the ‘Sushasan Babu’ image of CM Nitish Kumar seems to be in danger. CM Nitish has expressed grief while reacting to this incident. He also promised to take strict action against the criminals.


On the other hand, the opposition got an issue to corner the government. The opposition is constantly attacking the government. This murder case is also in headlines. Because journalists in India often have to face attacks to suppress their voice. These frequent attacks have also exposed the hollowness of the free press and the fourth pillar of democracy.


Rajdev Ranjan was murdered in 2016


The Vimal Yadav murder case has reminded of the journalist Rajdev Ranjan murder case. Rajdev was shot on May 13, 2016 near Siwan railway station. In this case of journalist's murder, an FIR was registered against 8 accused including former Siwan MP Shahabuddin. One of the accused was declared a juvenile by the court and handed over to the Juvenile Justice Council. On the other hand, former MP Shahabuddin, who was the culprit in this case, has died. 


Six other accused are still serving jail terms. Bihar is one of those states where many journalists have been attacked fatally so far. Out of which many journalists were brutally murdered. While there are many such cases which could not come to the fore.


Web portal journalist murdered in Begusarai in 2022


In the year 2022, Subhash Kumar, a journalist of a web portal was shot in Begusarai district. This incident is of Sankhu village of Parihara OP area. Allegedly, through journalism, Subhash was continuously publishing news against the sand mafia. Because of which the sand mafia carried out the attack.


Journalist was beaten to death in Supaul


Similarly, in 2022 itself, another journalist was brutally murdered in Supaul, Bihar. Senior journalist Mahashankar Pathak was beaten to death. A year before this, in 2021, the case of murder of journalist Buddhinath Jha came to light. 


In November 2021, local journalist Buddhinath Jha alias Avinash was murdered. The relatives tell that Avinash Jha was abducted from near the house. 


Another journalist Manish Singh was brutally killed in August 2021 in East Champaran of Bihar. The body of young journalist Manish Kumar Singh, who was missing for almost three days, was found in a pit. The murder was committed when he had come out of the house to have a feast.


79 journalists killed in the country in 25 years


Statistics of the Press Council of India show that during the last 25 years, 79 journalists have lost their lives in the country while doing their work. Journalists working in remote areas often put their lives in danger while workimng in militancy-ridden or Naxal-affected areas. 


Not only criminal elements, mafia but also political parties have been accused of attacking journalists. After these attacks, the local police and security system is also under question. They have often been accused of not taking action in the cases of violence against journalists under the pressure of musclemen and mafia.
