Colombo: India has achieved the biggest victory over Pakistan so far. The team defeated the Pakistani team by 228 runs in the Super-4 match of One Day Asia Cup-2023.
Earlier, this record was of 140 runs, which India made in 2008 at Mirpur ground.
Batting first after losing the toss at the Stadium in Colombo, the Indian team scored 356 runs for two wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan team could score only 128/8 runs in 32 overs. Two batsmen of the team did not play due to injury.
Pakistan suffered 2nd biggest defeat in its ODI history
Pakistan suffered the second biggest defeat in its ODI history. The team was earlier defeated by Sri Lanka by 234 runs at Karachi ground in 2009. Pakistan has lost by a margin of more than 200 runs for the third time in ODI. Apart from Sri Lanka and India, the team was defeated by Australia by 224 runs on the grounds of Nairobi in 2002.
Pakistan had a bad start while chasing the big target of 357 runs. The team lost the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq in the 5th over itself. Imam could score only 9 runs, he was caught by Jasprit Bumrah at second slip at the hands of Shubman Gill.
