Colombo: Defending champion Sri Lanka has entered the final of Asia Cup-2023. The team defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the Super-4 match on Thursday night. The team has reached the final of this tournament for the 11th time. Sri Lanka will face India in the title match on September 17.
Batting after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 252 runs for 7 wickets in 42 overs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Under DLS method, Sri Lanka got the target of 252 only. Sri Lanka won by losing 8 wickets in 42 overs.
Kusal Perera gave a good start to Sri Lanka while chasing the target of 252 runs. He hit 4 fours, but was run out after scoring 17 runs.
Kusal Mendis, who came at number-3, along with Pathum Nissanka took the team's score beyond 50. There was a partnership of 57 runs between the two. Nissanka became the victim of Shadab Khan after scoring 29 runs and the partnership between the two was broken.
Kusal Mendis took the innings forward with Samarawickrama
After losing the wicket of Pathum Nissanka for 77 runs, Kusal Mendis took the innings forward with Sadeera Samarawickrama. Both of them took the team's score beyond 100 runs. Mendis completed his fifty and the team's score crossed 150 runs. There was a century partnership between the two in the 30th over.
In the same over, Samarawickrama was out after scoring 48 runs and the partnership between the two was broken. Both of them made a partnership of 100 runs in 98 balls.
Rizwan scored 86 while Abdullah Shafiq scored 52 for Pakistan
