More BJP MPs Urge LS Speaker Om Birla To Probe Danish Ali's Conduct in LS; Danish Ali Rsponds

New Delhi: More Bharatiya Janata Party MPs have urged Speaker Om Birla to probe Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali's conduct in Lok Sabha. Danish Ali, however, claimed a narrative was being set for "lynching" him outside the House. He termed as baseless the allegation that he had provoked ruling party member Ramesh Bidhuri who made derogatory remarks against him.

On Thursday (September 21) night, BJP Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Bidhuri used violent anti-Muslim slurs against his parliament colleague Danish Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Bidhuri’s words were televised as part of the Lok Sabha proceedings.

Ali has written to Birla asking that Bidhuri’s comments be referred to the Lok Sabha privileges committee. He said that the episode “is most unfortunate and the fact that it has happened in a new parliament building under your leadership as Speaker is truly heartbreaking for me as a minority member of this great nation and an elected Member of Parliament as well”.

Ali asked, “Is this New India that Narendra Modi speaks about? If an MP is abused like this inside Lok Sabha, one can only imagine the fate of an ordinary Muslim.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had expressed regret over Bidhuri's remarks in the House and the BJP had issued a show-cause notice to him.

Om Birla warned Bidhuri of "strict action"

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla warned Bidhuri of "strict action" if such behaviour is repeated. But a day after Birla's warning, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to the Speaker, saying that while he condemns his party colleague's comments, there should also be a probe into the alleged unsavoury conduct and remarks of Ali.

Talking to reporters, Ali said he had seen Nishikant Dubey's letter to Birla. "My verbal lynching was done inside the House and now this is a narrative to get me lynched outside the House," he said.

In an apparent reaction to Dubey’s claims, Ali wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that some BJP leaders were pushing a narrative that he had instigated Bidhuri.
