NIA Pastes Property Confiscation Notice At Punjab House Of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

Jalandhar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has pasted a property confiscation notice at the Punjab home of slain Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in Canada. Nijjar's house is in village Bharsinghpura (Phillaur) of Jalandhar. The house at present is locked. NIA team reached here on Saturday.

The political row between India and Canada is deepening due to killing of Nijjar in Canada. Canada has claimed Nijjar was killed by Indian agents. India has described this charge as ridiculous and baseless.

Notice issued by special CBI cum NIA court of Mohali

The notice pasted on Nijjar's house has been issued by the special CBI cum NIA court of Mohali. The notice states that the NIA has filed a petition to seize the immovable property of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In this case, relatives and close ones can present their side in the special NIA court Mohali on 11th October.

According to the dossier submitted by India to Canada, Nijjar had fled to Canada in 1996 by making a fake passport in the name of Ravi Sharma.

After this Nijjar married a woman who helped him with immigration. A decade later, Nijjar became a Canadian citizen on May 25, 2007.

Nijjar had gone to Pakistan with a group in 2012. Here he allegedly took training in weapons and ID blast. After this, he again came to Canada and trained his comrades in using weapons to fulfill their terrorist plans.

According to the dossier, in 2014, Hardeep Nijjar had conspired to attack Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa, Haryana. However, he was not allowed to come to India. He had asked his terror network to attack former Punjab DGP Muhammad Izhar Alam, Shiv Sena leader Nishant Sharma and Baba Man Singh Pehowa Wale.

Nijjar was chief of Khalistan Tiger Force

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). Nijjar's name was in the list of 40 most wanted terrorists recently released by India's NIA. He had a role in conducting a referendum in favor of Khalistan in Brompton city of Canada.

The name of Nijjar and his organization had come up in many cases related to violence and crime in Punjab. Only after this he was put in the list of wanted terrorist. In September-2020, the Union Home Ministry declared Nijjar a terrorist. After this, Nijjar's property in Bharsinghpura village of Jalandhar was also attached.
