Bhopal: With elections drawing close in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leaving no stone unturned to woo all sections of society. The latest in the series are the street vendors who are the most neglected in the society and regularly harassed by civic authorities and dubbed as encroaches. Their hand carts and belongings are regularly seized during anti-encroachment drives.
Identity Cards for selling goods on streets
But on Saturday Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj announced many bounties for them, which, if implemented, could change the fate of these poor people. CM announced to set up a Welfare Board for the street vendors. They will be given Identity Cards for selling goods on the streets in villages and cities. No local market fees will be charged from them.
Bank loan upto Rs. one lakh will be given
Hawkers Corners will be developed for them and bank loan upto Rs. one lakh will be made available to street vendors. Upon returning a bank loan of 50 thousand rupees, they will be entitled for a loan of Rs 1 lakh so that they can expand their business.
CM visited stalls of street vendors
CM Shivraj addressed a gathering of street vendors at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal. The Chief Minister visited the stalls of street vendors and tasted various dishes while talking to them.
Chouhan also distributed the benefits PM Swannidhi scheme to them. The beneficiaries of the scheme, Shrimati Priyanka Joshi and Shri Pintu Vishwakarma, shared their experiences.
CM for Expanding Business Activities
The Chief Minister said that the PM Swanidhi scheme and the Chief Minister Rural Street Vendor Loan Scheme have been implemented for the economic empowerment of street vendors. These schemes have been implemented with an aim of providing loans to them without any hassle and burden of interest, so that they can expand their business activities.
Mission Poverty Eradication
CM Shivraj said that it requires entreprise to eradicate poverty and improve family's economy. The state government will support such persons on every step. Land pattas will be given to every poor person to live on the state's land.
