New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh, the hero of the World Cup 2011, says that the Team India is full of talented players but Yuzvendra Chahal or Washington Sundar should have been included in place of injured Axar Patel for World Cup 2023.
Due to injury, all-rounder Axar Patel will not be able to play in the World Cup. The team management has included senior off-spinner R Ashwin in his place.
Ashwin was included in the squad for the ODI series against Australia and was eventually selected in the final 15-player squad while Chahal and Washington were not in it.
Yuvraj told media, “I personally feel that Yuzvendra Chahal is missing in this team. I think this team is lacking a leg spinner.”
He said, “If we are not selecting Yuji, I was keen to see Washington Sundar in the team. But the team probably wanted an experienced bowler so I think they chose R Ashwin.”
Bumrah's performance will have a huge impact
Yuvraj said that Jasprit Bumrah's performance in the World Cup will have a huge impact on India's innings. Yuvraj was the 'Player of the Tournament' during the 2011 World Cup.
He said, "Bumrah has matured a lot in the last two years he has captained India and he has become a 'smart' bowler. Rohit Sharma knows how to use him, especially because he is playing for Mumbai Indians and has been its captain.
