ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Can Pakistan defeat Bangladesh to keep alive semi-final hopes

Kolkata: To keep the semi-final hopes alive, Pakistan will have to defeat Bangladesh at any cost in the 31st match of ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

The match to be played on Tuesday at Eden Garden Cricket Stadium in Kolkata is important for Pakistan and Bangladesh. While Pakistan will be fighting for their semi-final hopes, Bangladesh will be fighting to improve their position in the table.

In the current World Cup, Pakistan is at sixth position after winning two matches. Whereas Bangladesh has won only one match and is at 9th position.

Pakistan has faced defeat in four consecutive matches

Pakistan has faced defeat in four consecutive matches due to poor performance in the fields of bowling, batting and fielding. Pakistan's performance in its last match against South Africa was slightly better. To keep the hopes of semi-finals alive, it will have to win this match at any cost by performing brilliantly with bat and ball.

At the same time, Bangladesh's performance in this World Cup has also not been satisfactory. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has been a complete flop in this tournament. In such a situation, good performance will be expected from him in this match.

According to previous statistics, Pakistan has had the upper hand against Bangladesh. 38 ODI matches have been played between the two teams. Out of which Pakistan has won 33 matches, while Bangladesh has won only five matches. The two teams have met only twice in the ODI World Cup. Both the teams have won once each. In such a situation, Pakistan will have the upper hand in the match.

Pakistan needs a miracle to enter last 4

With four straight defeats, Pakistan's semifinal hopes have been heavily dented. Nothing sort of a miracle will see the team through to the last four stage. They have to win their remaining three matches by big margins and hope that other teams' results also favoured them to have any chance of making it to the last-four stage.
