Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections-2023: 19 Women, 69 MLAs Among 144 Congress Candidates; Contest Between Shiv And 'Hanuman' In Budhni


Bhopal: Congress has released the first list of its candidates on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. Names of 144 candidates have been announced in the first list of Congress. Former CM Kamal Nath will contest elections from Chhindwara. This time, Congress has fielded Vikram Mastal, who played the role of Hanuman in Ramayana-2, against CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan


Out of 144 Congress candidates, 19 are female


Congress has released the first list of 144 names. In that, 69 out of 96 sitting MLAs have been given tickets again. The special thing is that 65 out of 144 Congress candidates are below 50 years of age. 


There are 47 candidates from general category in this list. Whereas 39 candidates from backward class and 22 from scheduled caste category are in the list. Similarly, there are 30 candidates from Scheduled Tribe category. Whereas Congress has also given ticket to 19 women in the first list. Also, one minority and 5 Jain have been made candidates.


“Hanuman” in front of Shiv  in Budhni


Congress has fielded Vikram Mastal from Budhni Assembly seat in the first list. “Hanuman” has been fielded against four-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Vikram Mastal is a resident of Budhni. He is a famous TV serial actor. He played the role of Hanuman in the Ramayana-2 serial released in 2008. Mastal belongs to a farmer family of Salkanpur located in Budhni.


Sanjay Shukla will compete with Vijayvargiya


Apart from this, Congress has given ticket to sitting MLA Sanjay Shukla from Indore-1 Assembly seat. Sanjay Shukla will be seen contesting against BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya from this high profile seat. Whereas in Datia, the party has fielded Awadhesh Nayak, considered a strong leader, in front of Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra. Awadhesh Nayak had got the status of minister of state in the BJP government. Recently he left BJP and joined Congress.


Manoj Shukla will challenge Minister Sarang


On the Narela seat of Bhopal, Congress has fielded local candidate Manoj Shukla against Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang. Manoj Shukla has been active in Narela assembly constituency for the last several years. It is believed that his candidature can cause trouble for Minister Vishwas Sarang in the elections. 


Similarly, Congress has fielded district president Neeraj Sharma from Surkhi in Sagar district against Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput.


Talking about the veteran candidates in the Congress list, PCC Chief Kamal Nath himself is in the fray from Chhindwara. Whereas, Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh has been fielded from Lahar and former Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh Rahul has been fielded from Churhat of Sidhi. 


Jitu Patwari from Rau in Indore district, Sajjan Singh Verma from Sonkutch in Dewas district, Laxman Singh, younger brother of Digvijaya Singh, from Chachoda and Jaivardhan Singh, son of Digvijaya Singh, have been fielded from Raghogarh. 


Digvijaya Singh's relative Priyavrat Singh has also been given ticket from Khilchipur. From Ater, Congress has fielded Hemant Katare, son of former minister late Satyadev Katare. Hemant has been an MLA before also.

 

 Bhuria’s son will contest the election from Jhabua

 

The party has also replaced Kantilal Bhuria from Jhabua. Now, Bhuria’s son and youth president Vikrant Bhuria will contest the election from Jhabua. In its first list for the upcoming MP polls, the Congress has named all sitting MLAs and leaders who lost the previous election by a small margin.
