Madhya Pradesh Elections-2023: SP Candidates On 31 Seats; Will Cong Suffer loss; Will This Also Affect Seat-sharing Talks Between Two Parties In 2024 LS Polls

Bhopal: Samajwadi Party has released its second list for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections-2023. In the second list, Samajwadi Party has announced the names of its candidates on 22 seats.

In the first list, Samajwadi Party had declared the names of candidates on 9 seats and now after declaring names on 22 seats, the second list has been released. Thus, Samajwadi Party has fielded its candidates on a total of 31 seats in Madhya Pradesh and with this the possibility of an SP alliance with the Congress in the state assembly polls has been ruled out. MP will go to polls on November 16.

This may also affect seat-sharing talks between Cong, SP for 2024 LS polls

All the opposition parties at the national level had formed the India Alliance against the BJP. In which the most important role was played by Congress Party and Samajwadi Party, but this alliance has suffered a big setback in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

This may also affect the talks between the two parties for seat-sharing arrangement in the 2024 LS polls in UP. Both parties are part of the INDIA bloc.

In the 2018 elections, although the Congress emerged as the largest single party, it failed to secure a majority. To bridge this gap, two MLAs from the BSP, one from the SP, and four Independent legislators offered outside support to the government led by Kamal Nath at the time.

Following the downfall of the Kamal Nath-led Congress government, Rajesh Shukla, the SP MLA representing the Bijawar constituency, switched allegiance to the BJP. The SP has currently nominated Manoj Yadav as its candidate for the Bijawar seat. His name was declared in the first list.

Will SP cut tickets of Congress

SP has fielded its candidates on selected seats from almost every region of Madhya Pradesh. After the arrival of SP's list, the biggest question that has arisen now is whether SP will cut tickets of Congress and if Congress will be harmed with SP fielding its candidate on so many seats. Now there is hardly any scope left for an alliance between these two parties.

Akhilesh Yadav has been continuously touring Madhya Pradesh. A big conference of Samajwadi Party was also held in Vindhya region. Samajwadi Party also has a vote bank in the districts of Vindhya region of MP bordering UP. Now it has to be seen how Samajwadi Party would fare in the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh.

Cong had refused to form alliance with SP

Earlier, there were reports that Samajwadi Party wanted to contest the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh by forming an alliance with Congress and there were many discussions regarding seat sharing. But in Madhya Pradesh, Congress clearly refused to form an alliance with SP, after which SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has so far announced the names of its candidates on 31 seats.
