Karnataka: PM Modi completes sortie on IAF multirole fighter jet Tejas at HAL site in Bengaluru


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a sortie on Tejas aircraft at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) site in Karnataka's Bengaluru. PM Modi has also approved 'Make in India' multi-role fighter aircraft in Bengaluru. He visited the facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru on Saturday 25 November. According to the PMO, he had come to inspect the manufacturing hub of Tejas jet.



Earlier, several countries showed interest in purchasing the light combat aircraft Tejas and American defense giant GE Aerospace had signed an agreement with HAL to jointly produce engines for the MK-2-Tejas during the Prime Minister's visit to the US. 



At the same time, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said in April this year that India's defense exports have reached an all-time high of Rs 15,920 crore in the financial year 2022-2023. He had said that this is a remarkable achievement for the country.



Modi wrote on X while sharing some photos, "Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our country's indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential. Along with the Indian Air Force, DRDO and HAL Best wishes to all Indians." .


Modi was scheduled to review and visit HAL's manufacturing facility, including the facility for Tejas jets.
