MP Election 2023 Update: With less than a week remaining for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections-2023, the state continues to witness a steady stream of defections. Leaders from both the BJP and Congress have bid farewell to their respective parties.
The Gwalior Chambal region has dealt another blow to the BJP, following the departure of former BJP state minister and MLA Madan Kushwaha to the Congress. On Wednesday, former BJP MLA from Bhitarwar, Brijendra Tiwari, along with his 3000 supporters, joined the Congress.
'My decision is unconditional'
Upon joining the Congress, Brijendra Tiwari emphasized that his decision was unconditional. He expressed his disillusionment with the BJP, citing neglect for his commitment to transparent and clean politics. During a public meeting where former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh addressed the crowd, assurances were given to MLA Brijesh Tiwari and his supporters regarding their respect within the party.
Tiwari was denied ticket
Brijendra Tiwari was considered a candidate for ticket from Bharatiya Janata Party from Bhitarwar seat, but the ticket denied him ticket. The BJP fielded Mohan Singh Rathore, a supporter of Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Cong to benefit in Bhitarwar and Gwalior South
Brijendra Tiwari was disgruntled after being denied the ticket and finally he gave a big blow to BJP before the elections. With this, Congress is expected to benefit in Bhitarwar and Gwalior South seats. Apart from Brijendra Tiwari, BJP leader Shyam Sundar Singh Jadaun, who was the president of a cooperative bank twice from Bhind district, also took membership of Congress.
Cong govt poised to take charge in MP: Baraiya
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Phool Singh Baraiya from the Bhander Assembly announced from the stage that a Congress government is poised to take charge in Madhya Pradesh, with Kamal Nath as the Chief Minister. Acknowledging Digvijaya Singh's significant role, Baraiya predicted a 50-year rule for Congress.
Meanwhile, Digvijaya Singh issued a warning to officials, urging them to change their working methods, emphasizing the imminent formation of a Congress government in the state. He cautioned administrative officials of the Shivraj government that time is still available to change. He said no Narottam Mishra or Shivraj Singh Chouhan would come to their rescue. Singh also said that during a recent visit the entire district administration of Datia appeared aligned with the BJP.
