Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023: Turmoil within Congress; Sachin Pilot's supporter resigns; anger among other MLAs

The Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2023 have witnessed turmoil within the Congress party as it releases candidate lists. After the unveiling of the 5th list of candidates, several disgruntled MLAs whose tickets were canceled have expressed their anger.

Khiladi Lal Bairwa, Chairman of the Scheduled Caste Commission and an ally of the Sachin Pilot camp, even went to the extent of resigning in protest. In addition, irate MLAs have written letters to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to register their protests against the announced candidates.

Khiladi Lal Bairawa has sent a letter to the Congress President, alleging that state Congress leaders are trying to suppress the voices of the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. He also pointed out that he had repeatedly requested the government to grant constitutional status to the commission to ensure transparent and just treatment for the victims, but his pleas went unanswered.

Bharat Singh Kundanpur also upset

Another MLA, Bharat Singh Kundanpur, representing Sangod in Rajasthan, wrote to Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, opposing the cancellation of his ticket and the choice of the announced candidate. This has posed a significant challenge for the party.

MLA Bharat Singh has raised questions about the party's decision, contending that the declared candidates do not reside in the assembly. He views the party's decision as an insult to the Sangod Assembly. He also cast suspicion on Qazi Nizamuddin's role in selecting Bhanu Pratap as a candidate. The MLA has expressed disappointment over his letter being disregarded.
