Rajasthan Election-2023: 68.24 percent voting till 5 pm; stone pelting in Sikar, cop injured


68.24 percent voting has taken place till 5 pm in Rajasthan, now only 1 hour is left. This time, due to the death of the Congress candidate in Karanpur Assembly, voting is being held on 199 seats. A total of 74.06 percent voting took place in the 2018 assembly elections.


Cop suffers head injury


In the Fatehpur Shekhawati area of Sikar district, Rajasthan, a heated confrontation unfolded between supporters of Congress candidate Hakam Ali Khan and independent candidate Madhusudan Bhinda during the voting process. This disagreement resulted in a significant stone-pelting incident, causing a head injury to a police constable.


The dispute originated at the Bochiwala Bhavan polling booth over allegations of fraudulent voting in Ward 40. The situation escalated to intense stone-pelting between the two factions, lasting for nearly half an hour. The clash extended near a religious site, prompting the Sikar police, led by DSP Rampratap Vishnai and local police, to intervene. Police constable Rakesh sustained a head injury during the incident. 


No disruption in voting: DSP


Several people were taken into custody. Various candidates, including Madhusudan Bhinda, and leaders from other parties have also reached the scene.


Providing an update on the situation, DSP Ramprasad stated, "There has been stone-pelting following a verbal clash among some people. Some have been dispersed, and others detained. Strict action will be taken. The polling is ongoing, and the clashes are away from the polling booth. There is no disruption to voting. Those who haven't cast their votes yet should proceed to do so. Security will be ensured for everyone."
