Mumbai: Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit may try her luck in next year's Lok Sabha elections-2024. However, she has not yet confirmed which party she will join if she contests the elections. Earlier there were speculations that she might start her political career from Pune.
According to sources, Madhuri has been in touch with Bharatiya Janata Party leaders for a long time.
Madhuri Dixit was seen with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during the semi-final match between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. NCP leader Praful Patel and BJP leader Ashish Shelar were also present there along with her. Since then, speculations about Madhuri Dixit contesting elections have intensified in political circles.
Senior BJP leader Gopal Shetty is the Lok Sabha MP from North Mumbai. It was Gopal Shetty who became MP for the second time by defeating Urmila Matondkar in the 2019 elections. Earlier, Gopal Shetty had defeated Sanjay Nirupam in 2014. In such a situation, BJP will hardly take the risk of fielding Madhuri Dixit in his place.
There is a possibility of Madhuri contesting the elections from North West Mumbai seat. However, this seat is in Shiv Sena's account and Gajanan Kirtikar, who is in Shinde faction, is the MP from here.
However, his condition is not good this time either. In such a situation, under the agreement, BJP can field Madhuri Dixit from this seat. This time too, Sanjay Nirupam is a big contender from Congress on this seat. Nirupam's path will be difficult if Madhuri contests
