Delhi High Court has continued the relief granted to former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's OSD Lokesh Sharma in the Rajasthan phone tapping case. Delhi High Court has continued the stay on taking any kind of action against Lokesh Sharma till further orders.
Rajasthan govt sought postponement of hearing
A demand was made by the Rajasthan government in the Delhi High Court to postpone the hearing. The lawyer of Rajasthan government told the High Court that the government has changed in Rajasthan, hence instructions will have to be taken from the government in this case. Therefore today's hearing should be postponed. After that the court postponed the hearing of the case till 19 December.
On January 13, Delhi Police had filed an application demanding lifting of the stay on Lokesh Sharma's arrest and had said that Lokesh Sharma was not cooperating in the investigation. Delhi Police had also said that Lokesh Sharma has not yet given his phone for investigation. On November 9, 2022, the court had maintained the stay on Sharma's arrest.
Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had lodged the FIR
On August 29, 2022, the court had extended the stay on taking any kind of action against Lokesh Sharma till November 9, 2022. Before that, on May 9, 2022, the court had extended this stay till August 29. Lokesh Sharma has demanded cancellation of the FIR registered against him. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had filed an FIR against Lokesh Sharma in Delhi on March 26, 2021, accusing him of phone tapping.
