Even after a week has elapsed, the BJP high command remains indecisive about the next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. An observer team, led by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, has been appointed, and they are scheduled to arrive in Bhopal at 11 am on Monday to meet with the MLAs.
Meanwhile, potential candidates for the CM position, including current CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya, and BJP state president VD Sharma, are actively engaging with their supporting MLAs.
In addition to these well-known figures, a relatively unknown BJP member has also entered the race for the CM post. Discussions are taking place over the phone, and all candidates are in constant contact with their respective supporting MLAs. This behind-the-scenes maneuvering aims to showcase the level of support each candidate has among the MLAs.
Sources suggest that the current CM, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, enjoys unwavering support from 15 to 20 MLAs.
The interactions with other CM candidates vary, with more than a dozen MLAs in touch with candidates like Narendra Singh Tomar and Kailash Vijayvargiya. VD Sharma is engaged in continuous discussions with four to five of his loyal MLAs.
Jyotiraditya Scindia reportedly has the support of around 30 to 35 MLAs, including 28 who have been his long-time supporters.
While none of the CM candidates overtly claims majority support, the ongoing discussions subtly communicate to the BJP high command the level of backing each candidate has among the MLAs.
