3 players, one coach from Madhya Pradesh decorated with National Sports Award; President Smt. Murmu presented Arjuna and Dronacharya awards


Bhopal: President Smt. Droupadi Murmu honored four sports talents of Madhya Pradesh in New Delhi today. The President awarded Arjuna Award to Madhya Pradesh's shooting player Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, para-canoeing player Ms Prachi Yadav and female hockey player Ms Sushila Chanu and Dronacharya Award to hockey coach Shri Shivendra Singh.


Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang said that all four players have brought glory to Madhya Pradesh. He wished for a bright future for the awarded players.


For the first time, three players and one coach from Madhya Pradesh were decorated with the National Sports Award. Olympic player Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar of Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy, Ms Prachi Yadav of Para Canoeing and former player of Madhya Pradesh Women's Hockey Academy and currently star player of Hockey India Ms Sushila Chanu were honored with the national level outstanding sports award Arjun Award. Also, Indian hockey team coach Shri Shivendra Singh was honored with the Dronacharya Award.


National Sports Awards to outstanding performing players


Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar – President Smt. Draupadi Murmu presented the Arjuna Award, 2023 to Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar for his achievements in shooting. Tomar won two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games held at Hangzhou, China in the year 2023, one gold medal (individual) and one silver medal (men's team) at the 15th Asian Shooting Championship held at Changwon, South Korea. He has won a gold medal (men's team) at the ISSF World Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan.


Prachi Yadav – President Smt. Draupadi Murmu presented the Arjuna Award, 2023 to Ms. Prachi Yadav for her achievements in Para Canoeing. Ms. Yadav one gold medal and one silver medal at the 4th Para Asian Games held at Hangzhou, China in the year 2023, three gold medals and one silver medal at the Asian Para Canoe Championship held at Samarkand, Uzbekistan and ICF held at Poznan, Poland in the year 2022 She has won a bronze medal in the Para Canoe World Cup.


Sushila Chanu - President Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the Arjuna Award, 2023 to Ms. Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu for her achievements in Hockey. Ms Chanu has won a bronze medal in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in the year 2023, a bronze medal in the 22nd Commonwealth Games  held in Birmingham, United Kingdom in the year 2022 and a gold medal in the Women's FIH Hockey Nations Cup held in Valencia, Spain in 2022.


Shivendra Singh - President Murmu presented the Dronacharya Award, 2023 to Shivendra Singh for his achievements in hockey. Singh has been the coach of the senior men's team since the year 2020 and has trained prominent and outstanding players including Sreejesh Parattu Raveendran, Krishna Bahadur Pathak, Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sanjay, Sumit and Manpreet Singh.
