Indian Navy rescue all 21 on board hijacked cargo ship

The Indian Navy said on Friday evening that a total of 21 people, including 15 Indian citizens, stranded in a cargo ship off the coast of Somalia have been rescued safely.

The Indian Navy has said that they have not found any hijackers on the cargo ship (MV Lila Norfolk). The Navy estimates that the pirates may have changed their mind after the warning was issued to them.

The Indian Navy wrote on social media platform. The Navy said that INS Chennai is still close to the cargo ship and is trying to restore power to the ship so that it can move towards the next port.

Earlier, Indian Navy's warship INS Chennai had reached near MV Lila Norfolk.

Officials had told news agencies that all the Indians on board MV Lila Norfolk were safe.

Marine commandos of the Indian Navy were involved in this operation. A naval helicopter was also keeping surveillance on MV Lila Norfolk.

On Thursday, it was reported that MV Lila Norfolk with 15 Indian crew has been kidnapped by Somalian pirates.
