Former MP Manvendra Singh's car meets with accident on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Alwar, wife dies


Congress leader and former MP Manvendra Singh's car met with an accident in Alwar on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Tuesday evening in which his wife Chitra Singh died.


His wife Chitra Singh has died in this accident. Manvendra Singh and his son Hamir Singh have suffered fractures. His driver is also injured. They are being treated in a hospital in Alwar.


After getting information about the accident, Alwar Collector and SP reached the spot.


According to the information received, the accident took place near Khuspuri village located near Noganwa in Alwar. It is being told that while returning to Jaipur on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Manvendra Singh's car collided with the divider at high speed.


After this the injured were admitted to a private hospital. Doctors declared Chitra Singh, wife of Congress leader Manvendra Singh Jasol, dead.


Manvendra Singh is the son of Jaswant Singh, who held ministries like foreign, defense and finance in the Vajpayee government.


Alwar Collector Ashish Gupta said, "The incident happened around 4.30 pm on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Manvendra Singh's car collided with the divider, due to which his wife died."


Gupta said, "Manvendra Singh suffered injuries on his ribs and lungs in the accident but is out of danger. Whereas, his son has suffered minor injuries. Treatment is going on in Alwar Hospital."


Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has tweeted reacting to this news.


Along with this, reaction has also come from former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.


The injured were immediately taken to the hospital with the help of people. Manvendra Singh's wife has died in the incident. The condition of all the other people remains stable and their treatment is ongoing.


Who is Manvendra Singh


Manvendra Singh is the son of Jaswant Singh, who was a Union Minister in the Atal Bihari government. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari gave many important responsibilities to him in his government. Taking forward his father's political legacy, Manvendra Singh contested his first Lok Sabha election from Barmer-Jaisalmer seat. 


Like his father, Manvendra Singh also contributed to the Army and reached the rank of Colonel. Manvendra Singh joined Congress after Jaswant Singh's political dispute with BJP. There were strong discussions about his returning to BJP in the assembly elections 2023, but till now Manvendra Singh is the leader of the Congress party.


Manvendra Singh has been a one-time MP from Barmer-Jaisalmer Lok Sabha seat. Manvendra Singh, originally from Jasol, Balotra, currently lives in Jodhpur with his family.
