Kalpana Soren wife of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren might step in as new CM, claims BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey has asserted that Kalpana Soren, the wife of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, might step in as the new Chief Minister. This speculation arises as Chief Minister Hemant Soren has reportedly summoned allied MLAs to converge in Ranchi "with their luggage."

Dubey, in a post on X, questioned the ability of a leader to safeguard the people of the state who is reportedly evading authorities. He expressed concerns about Hemant Soren's alleged fugitive status and asserted that such a leader, facing scrutiny both nationally and internationally, may not be capable of protecting state officials or residents.

'Soren has summoned MLAs from JMM, Congress, and allied parties'

"Hemant Soren ji has summoned MLAs from his party, JMM, Congress, and allied parties to assemble in Ranchi with their belongings. According to information, there is a proposal to appoint Kalpana Soren ji (Hemant Soren's wife) as the new Chief Minister. The CM has indicated that, apprehensive of an Enforcement Directorate interrogation, he will travel to Ranchi by road and make a public announcement upon his arrival," he added.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Enforcement Directorate officials were seen at Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence in the national capital.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya stated that CM Soren is prepared to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 regarding a money-laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

"CM has gone to Delhi for personal reasons and will return as scheduled. He has been summoned on January 31. We are ready for January 31. When asked about the location and time, we specified that Hemant Soren will be at CM's residence on Kanke Road at 1 pm. Any confusion is being created against democratic values in portraying the political situation," Bhattacharya remarked.
