Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The first weekend of the new year brought showers to various parts of Madhya Pradesh, soaking cities like Indore, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, and a heavy downpour in Harda on Sunday morning. Bhopal also witnessed a drizzle on Sunday, while Narmadapuram continues to experience intermittent showers.
Gwalior and Guna experiencing chilly weather
Gwalior and Guna are experiencing chilly weather with maximum temperatures hovering between 15 to 17 degrees Celsius. Surprisingly, these temperatures make them colder than prominent cities in Himachal-Uttarakhand, such as Dharamshala, Chamba, Mandi, and Dehradun, where temperatures exceed 17 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, 11 cities in Madhya Pradesh recorded temperatures below 20° Celsius, with rain anticipated in 10 districts, including Bhopal and Jabalpur, on Sunday. Additionally, 22 districts are expected to witness moderate to dense fog.
Rain alert at these places
The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain in the districts of Jabalpur division. Yellow alert has also been issued in Umaria. During the last 24 hours, rain was recorded at some places in the districts of Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, at many places in Jabalpur, Shahdol, Sagar divisions and at most places in Narmadapuram and Rewa divisions.
Dense fog in these dists
An alert of dense fog has been issued in Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Mauganj, Jabalpur, Panna, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Rajgarh, Mandsaur and Neemuch districts on Sunday. Apart from these districts, thick fog was seen in Ashoknagar, Agar Malwa, Sehore, Shajapur, Raisen on Saturday.
Night Temps to Plummet Further Post-Jan 12
According to SN Sahu, a meteorologist at Bhopal's Meteorological Department, the current weather pattern is likely to persist in the state for the next few days, bringing severe cold despite the passing of the rain system. Sahu explains that an active cyclonic circulation system over Uttar Pradesh and a second Indo-Cyclonic Circulation over Rajasthan, along with a trough line passing from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh, have collectively influenced Madhya Pradesh's weather.
A resurgence of a Western Disturbance is expected on January 8, lasting until January 12, accompanied by a possibility of fog and light rain. Following the dispersal of clouds after this system, northern winds will infiltrate the state, causing a further drop in night temperatures. Residents are advised to brace for colder weather conditions in the upcoming days.
