Rajasthan News: Sachin Pilot No Longer in Contention for State President and Leader of Opposition Roles?

While the Bhajanlal Sharma government's cabinet has been formed in Rajasthan, portfolio allocation is still pending. The Congress Party, facing a setback after a resounding defeat, has yet to announce the State President and Leader of Opposition. Initial discussions hinted at the possibility of appointing youth leader Sachin Pilot as the state president, but recent developments have put an end to those speculations.

With Sachin Pilot appointed as the in-charge of Chhattisgarh, it appears that the Congress high command is unlikely to assign him the roles of state president or leader of opposition. Several senior Congress leaders, such as Shanti Dhariwal, Dr. Raghu Sharma, and Harish Chaudhary, are now emerging as frontrunners in this political race.

Cong Contemplates Leader of Opposition from Meena Community

The Meena community has long been a crucial vote bank for Congress in Rajasthan. Speculations suggest that the Congress Party might take a bold step by entrusting a significant responsibility, such as Leader of Opposition, to a member of the Meena community. There are discussions surrounding the potential selection of Dausa MLA Murarilal Meena for the role.

'One Person, One Post' Formula and Sachin Pilot's Prospects

The Congress party cites the 'one person, one post' formula, indicating that Sachin Pilot's appointment as the in-charge of Chhattisgarh has likely ruled him out for the positions of state president and leader of opposition in Rajasthan. With these being crucial roles, the party is unlikely to appoint one leader to occupy both posts. As the upcoming Lok Sabha elections approach, Pilot is expected to focus entirely on Chhattisgarh.

Sachin Pilot's Relocation - A Deliberate Move by Congress?

The prolonged dispute between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot during Gehlot's tenure as Chief Minister prompted protests and raised concerns about the government's stability. It is now suggested that the Congress high command strategically appointed Sachin Pilot as the in-charge of Chhattisgarh to avoid factionalism in Rajasthan, opting for a PCC Chief without allegiance to either Gehlot or Pilot.

In addition to appointing Sachin Pilot as Chhattisgarh in-charge, Congress removed Ashok Gehlot from Rajasthan, placing him in the National Alliance Committee. This move aims to establish new leadership in Rajasthan, distinct from both Gehlot and Pilot. The next PCC Chief may likely be a leader not affiliated with either faction.

Potential PCC Chief Contenders

With Sachin Pilot no longer in the running for PCC Chief after being appointed Chhattisgarh in-charge, Congress is considering Govind Singh Dotasra for the role. If Dotasra is moved to Leader of Opposition, there is speculation that Harish Chaudhary could emerge as a surprising candidate for the position of Congress State President.

Congress Veterans Vying for Leader of Opposition

Following Sachin Pilot's assignment in Chhattisgarh, it appears unlikely that he will be appointed state president or leader of opposition. Senior Congress leaders Shanti Dhariwal, Dr. Raghu Sharma, and Harish Chaudhary are now prominent contenders for the position of Leader of Opposition.
