Farmers Protest: Rural Bharat Bandh announced today in support of peasants' demands; talks with Union ministers to continue

In support of the demands of the farmers, many farmer organizations including the United Kisan Morcha have announced Gramin (Rural) Bharat Bandh today i.e. on Friday.

Earlier, the third round of talks between the protesting farmers in Punjab and three union ministers, including Arjun Munda and Piyush Goyal, concluded on a positive note on Thursday. Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said the dialogue was “very positive” and they had decided to meet again on Sunday evening.

The farmer union leaders called the discussions on MSP, the Swaminathan report, and debt waiver “fruitful”, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said he would continue to broker peace for the state as he didn’t want to see the youth facing teargas shells.

Meanwhile, the bandh is being observed in response to the call of Gramin Bharat Bandh by the United Kisan Morcha.

United Kisan Morcha has appealed to all the organizations supporting the farmers' demand to call off India.

Some labor organizations from across the country will also participate in it.

Some farmers from Punjab, who were marching towards Delhi to participate in this bandh, were stopped in Haryana near Ambala. Security personnel released tear gas shells to stop them.

In view of Bharat Bandh, extensive security arrangements have been made in many states including the capital Delhi. According to Delhi Police, it has made complete arrangements to prevent the protesters from entering Delhi.

Another organization of farmers, Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) has also appealed to the people to participate in Bharat Bandh.
