Lal Krishna Advani to be conferred with Bharat Ratna, what PM Modi said?


The prestigious Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, has been declared for Lal Krishna Advani, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and former Deputy Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared this significant news on social media platform X.


In his announcement, PM Modi expressed his joy, saying he was pleased to announce that Lal Krishna Advani ji will be bestowed with the Bharat Ratna. I personally spoke to him, extending my congratulations on this well-deserved honor, PM Modi said.


This announcement comes approximately 12 days after the consecration of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. Reflecting on Advani's contributions, PM Modi remarked on social media, "Advani ji, one of the most esteemed leaders of our times, has made unforgettable contributions to India's development."


PM Modi highlighted Advani's remarkable journey from grassroots work to serving as Deputy Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Information and Broadcasting Minister. The Prime Minister praised Advani's exemplary parliamentary journey, characterized by a rich vision and dedication to national service.


"He dedicated several decades of his life to serving the people, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to transparency and honesty. His efforts for national unity and cultural revival are noteworthy," PM Modi stated.


Expressing personal sentiment, PM Modi shared, "The decision to confer Bharat Ratna upon him is a deeply emotional moment for me. I had the privilege of working alongside him on many occasions, learning valuable lessons from his leadership."


The Prime Minister praised Advani for his decades-long dedication to public service, highlighting his unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity as a commendable standard in political ethics. PM Modi acknowledged Advani's unparalleled efforts in promoting national unity and cultural resurgence, expressing gratitude for the countless opportunities to interact and learn from him.


BJP's Longest-Serving President


LK Advani, who assumed the presidency of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980, holds the record for the longest tenure in this position. Recognized for shaping the BJP's ascent during the 1990s, he played a pivotal role in the party's first-time emergence to power, leading coalition governments under Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


In addition to his role as BJP President, Advani served as the deputy prime minister in the cabinet led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 2002 to 2004.
