Poonam Pandey Clarifies False Reports of Cervical Cancer Death, Advocates for Awareness; What Social Media Users Said

Poonam Pandey, the model and reality TV star, took to Instagram today to contradict reports of her death from cervical cancer. This clarification follows a previous announcement by her manager stating that she had succumbed to the illness.

I am alive. Contrary to reports, cervical cancer did not claim my life. Sadly, this cannot be said for the countless women who have lost their lives to this disease, Pandey declared in her Instagram post.

Expressing regret for any distress caused, she explained, "My intention was to jolt everyone into a conversation that we're neglecting – cervical cancer."

Pandey defended her earlier "death" post as an attempt to spark dialogue and raise awareness about cervical cancer. She emphasized the preventability of the disease through the HPV vaccine and early detection tests.

"Cervical cancer is entirely preventable, unlike some other cancers. The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. We possess the means to ensure no one succumbs to this illness," she asserted.

Previously, Pandey's team had issued a statement stating her death from cervical cancer, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Many expressed disbelief and skepticism, having spotted the model at an event in Goa just three days prior.

Poonam Pandey gained prominence during the 2011 Cricket World Cup with a promise to strip if team India won. Although the promise went unfulfilled, she later shared a nude photo when her favorite team, Kolkata Knight Riders, won the IPL the following year. Over the years, she has amassed a substantial following with her controversial statements and explicit content on social media.

In 2022, Pandey participated in the reality show 'Lock Upp,' led by Kangana Ranaut, and also ventured into acting with roles in some films.

Social Media Users Slam Poonam

The model, however, faces criticism on social media for allegedly "faking her death" to promote awareness of the disease.

One user said: The person who gave Poonam Pandey this ridiculous idea should be ashamed. Despite having many ways to spread awareness, they chose the pathetic one. Death is no joke, there are no words to describe it.

Another user Gabbar wrote: Whoever crafted the Poonam Pandey campaign, must know that the message that comes out is that people don’t die of cervical cancer.

An X user said, “As expected! All of this was a publicity stunt! All the people who were questioning her were right!”

A tweet read, “Poonam Pandey is the biggest fraud, she is alive. This is beyond shameless."

Another person tweeted, "#PoonamPandey is alive. This is the worst PR campaign, ever. Such a sick mentality. Playing with people’s emotions by faking death is not cool at all.”

Another X user wrote, “Like dude death is a joke? You could have created awareness by multiple ways.”

"How desperate is that to gain attention," another X user commented.

One user wrote: Height of shamelessness & insensitivity!!!
