Madhya Pradesh: BJP state president VD Sharma said this on speculations about Nakul Nath joining saffron party

Gwalior: VD Sharma, president of BJP Madhya Pradesh unit, has said Nakul Nath is welcome in his party if he is willing to contribute positively to society. Addressing speculations about Nakul Nath, the only Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh and the son of former CM Kamal Nath joining the BJP, VD Sharma emphasized that the BJP is an organized party recognized as one of the most ideal globally. He welcomed anyone willing to contribute positively to society, stating that if Nakul Nath is among them, he is warmly invited. Sharma said this during an interaction with media in Gwalior on Saturday.

Sharma's remarks come amidst heightened speculations about many top leaders including Kamal Nath, Vivek Tankha could switch to BJP. Reports indicate that the previously derailed agreement between Kamal Nath and the BJP has been rekindled, gaining support from various state BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

During Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's recent visit to New Delhi, discussions about Congress leaders transitioning to the BJP took place in meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President Nadda. It is rumored that Kamal Nath might secure a Rajya Sabha seat, while his son is anticipated to contest the Lok Sabha seat from Chhindwara, along with a ministerial position.

Skepticism about Kamal Nath joining the BJP

However, two Congress leaders from Madhya Pradesh, who recently met Kamal Nath, revealed that he urged party workers to focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. One of the leaders expressed skepticism about Kamal Nath joining the BJP, stating that such a move would significantly impact the Congress ahead of the elections, considering his contributions to reshaping the party unit over the past five to six years.

Kamal Nath has publicly announced that his son, Nakul Nath, will contest the Lok Sabha election on the Congress ticket from Chhindwara. Meanwhile, there are speculations about Congress Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Vivek Tankha possibly joining the BJP, as he is known to be a close associate of Kamal Nath.

Notably, two Congress leaders, Jabalpur Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, aka 'Annu,' and Shashank Shekhar, former head of the MP Congress legal cell, have already joined the BJP, both being reportedly close to Vivek Tankha.
