Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, aged 81, underwent angioplasty at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. The legendary actor was admitted at 6 am on Friday amidst tight security.
Meanwhile, in his blog, Big-B wrote: "Ever in gratitude for all your prayers and love... Ever in gratitude for the grace of your affection...ever in gratitude for your continuity...Love and more later."
It is being speculated from his tweet that he has expressed gratitude to the well-wishers after the surgery.
Vein Cut During KBC 14 Shoot
During the filming of Kaun Banega Crorepati 14 in 2022, Amitabh Bachchan suffered a cut to a vein in his leg due to a metal piece. The incident caused bleeding from his calf muscle, necessitating immediate medical attention.
Amitabh's Previous Injuries
Prior to Diwali 2022, Bachchan revealed through his personal blog about an injury sustained to his leg, requiring hospitalization for stitching.
In 2018, while shooting for Thugs of Hindostan, he endured a shoulder injury during an action sequence, albeit not severe. Despite advice to use a body double, Bachchan insisted on performing the scene himself.
Moreover, in 2000, Bachchan contracted Hepatitis B due to a blood transfusion during treatment for injuries sustained on the sets of Coolie. This incident led to liver cirrhosis, resulting in the surgical removal of 75% of his infected liver in 2012.
Recurrent Health Battles
Amitabh Bachchan battled COVID-19 twice, first in 2020 along with his son Abhishek, requiring a two-month hospitalization. He contracted the virus again in 2022.
