Wednesday marks the fifth and final day of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
In Badnawar (Dhar), Rahul Gandhi said that people of Bharatiya Janata Party have started calling tribals as forest dwellers and this is the biggest insult to the tribals.
Gandhi addressed a public meeting in Badnawar in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh as part of the 'Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra'. During this, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, state president Jitu Patwari, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh and leader of opposition in the assembly Umang Singhar were also present.
Addressing the large number of tribals present in the meeting, Gandhi started his address by making reference to the Sidhi incident in the state. He said that the ideology of BJP is like this. BJP mistreats not only tribals but also Dalits and poor backward people. BJP people insult the weak everywhere.
He said that BJP people have now started calling tribals as forest dwellers. Along with this, while explaining the meaning of both the words, he said that tribal means the person who is the original owner of the land, whereas forest dweller means those people who live in the forests. He said that if tribals are called tribals then the government will have to give them the rights over water, forest and land. There can be no greater insult to the tribals than calling them forest dwellers.
In this sequence, he said that one day these people will take away the forest from you and will say that you are a forest dweller, but the forest no longer exists. Then the tribals will be asked to work as labourers, beg or die of hunger. This is the difference between these two words.
The Congress leader said that tribals constitute eight percent of the population in the country and 24 percent in Madhya Pradesh, but no tribal will be found among the owners of big companies across the country. Whatever is happening to the tribals in the country, the same is happening to the Dalits, backward classes and poor people belonging to the general category. Along with this, he also attacked the big industrial houses of the country including Adani Group.
He said that to change this situation, caste census will be conducted as soon as the Congress government is formed. Besides, a law will be made on this giving legal guarantee of MSP to the farmers.
Affected families of Harda meet Rahul
Earlier, the Yatra commenced from Ingoriya in Ujjain district. Affected families from the Harda firecracker factory blast gathered to meet Rahul seeking justice for the lack of action taken after the blast.
Notably, on February 6, a horrific blast at the Harda firecracker factory killed 13 and injured as many as 200 people. During the probe, several violations were found in the unit.
Victim families, on Wednesday, met Gandhi and sought justice.
Similarly, farmers whose lands have been acquired for the Budhni-Indore railway line had also come to meet him.
